Sangria Sisters European Travel Tips

Planning a month-long, multi-country, European vacay is a logistical nightmare. Enter adventure curator, Tara Shaw!

Tara’s company, Resfeber Travels Company, hand-crafted Val and Ken’s dream itinerary, and finessed Lori and Abby’s wish list. Getting a feel for our vibe, she suggested hotels, tours, attractions, restaurants, trains, planes, and automobiles – then packaged them neatly in our very own travel app. Two Sangria thumbs up! 🍷🍷

Here’s our takeaway for your next getaway:

1. Learn how to say “I don’t speak this language” in every language.

2. Choose hotels in the heart of the city to unearth magic not found on maps.

3. Roll everything into packing cubes and stack Tetris-style into a carry-on and backpack. Jumbo suitcases don’t glide on cobblestones.

4. Store photocopies of your passport and important documents separately from originals.

5. Up your fitness game prior to take-off to ace the vigorous pace. And, I would walk 500 miles…🎵

6. Boost your immunity with vitamins and hydration powder before, during, and after travel.

7. Scout out restaurants on side streets and back alleys. Watch for ‘everyday I’m hustling’ waiters whose soles of their feet are cooking.

8. Choose comfort over style footwear, or you’ll blister in the sun.

9. Book tours and tickets online, and in advance. Skip-the-line saves your sanity.

10. Early evening illuminates meccas like the Vatican, Trevi fountain, and Coliseum, and it’s less crowded than by day.

11. Rome’s traffic is intense. Look for designated taxi stands and queue up, as flagging rarely works.

12. Always use crosswalks; and keep your head on a swivel to dodge scooters, bikes, mopeds and sightseeing buses.

13. Double check train details; aka the number, platform, car, and seat numbers. Most importantly, make sure you have the correct rail company. 🤦🏻‍♀️

14. Download apps: Citymapper, Viator for tours, Airalo e-sim cards, Google Translate, and Timeshifter.

We were repeatedly told by locals that Canadians earned first place on the MOST LOVED tourist list. Represent accordingly!
